Salix miyabeana SX64 is a hybrid willow developed by the University of Toronto and Cornell University to grow a particularly FAST & TALL shrub for harvesting rods It will grow to 20 feet in 2 years and 25 feet in 3 years with a 3 to 5 ft crown.
I have a limited supply of hardwood cuttings left of this variety @ $2.00 per cutting, left for planting now. These cuttings are 8 inches long, and will start to grow right away when planted in the ground in a weed free location and watered now in the heat of the summer. By the end of the season and into next spring you will have long unbranched rods for harvesting for a wattle fence, living willow structure, a sustainable firewood supply , or you can leave to grow as a big bushy privacy hedge.
The pics below show an uncut stand of Sx64 willow, with a section beside cut (coppiced) anda section growing anew after being cut. The second picture shows a stand of this willow as a windbreak and privacy screen, and the third a wattle fenced garden made from cut rods of any variety of willow that produces long rods.
Wattle fences are easy to do, highly functional and beautiful.
I carry over 40 different types of willows/ and have basket willow/ bee willow/living willow / ornamental willow plants for sale/
